Altaf Bukhari inaugurates Rakh-e-Arth Housing Colony | KNO

Announces School, Health Center, Ration Store, other facilities for the area

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 17 (KNO) : Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today inaugurated Gulshan-e-Nomaan state-of-the-art housing colony at ‘Rakh-e-Arth’ in Bemina with an assurance to improve the quality of life for under privileged sections of society in Srinagar city. Bukhari handed over the keys of houses to nine families and the rest of the houses will be handed over to the deserving families within 10 days by the concerned district administration. On this occasion, the Minister was accompanied by Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah, VC LAWDA, Dr Hafeez Masoodi, VC SDA Abdul Majeed Raina, DC Srinagar, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, DC Budgam, Mohammad Haroon Malik, Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, SSP Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh, Chief Engineers of PHE and IFC, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar, Chairman Kashmir Welfare Trust, Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo and other sectoral officers. It was informed that with an aim to rehabilitate the Dal dwellers from Pschunt Khul, Chinar Bagh, and other flood hit areas of the city especially Amirakadal, 100 single storey houses have been constructed at Rakh-e-Arth by a known NGO Kashmir Welfare Trust for which 40 Kanals of land was provided by State Government and the drainage, water supply and other basic amenities are given by Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA). The Minister was briefed that each house comprises two rooms, kitchen, bathroom and a small lobby. The total number of 112 families will be accommodated in these houses. The project for which the work started in 2013 is being executed at the total cost of Rs 416 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Altaf Bukhari congratulated Kashmir Welfare Trust for their social work and said that government will provide full support for such initiatives for the welfare of the society. The Minister announced that a school will be established in the area so that the children do not have to cover long distance and attend schools in other areas. He also announced that government will provide a land for the Medical Health Center which will be constructed by the Kashmir Welfare Trust. On the request of the people, the Minister announced that a ration store will opened in the area and also directed the DC Budgam to order installation of street lights and to macadamize the roads in the Colony. He also said that the government will provide a piece of land for the graveyard in the area. Later VC LAWDA, announced that 5000 trees will be planted at Rakh-e-Arth for its beautification. He also requested the government to speed up the release of funds to expedite the project.(KNO)
